Gunmen Attack Ex-Militant Leader, Ogunbos’ Home at Peremabiri

Some yet-to-be identified gunmen have attacked the residence of Eris Paul, a former militant leader also known as Ogunbos at his country home in Peremabiri Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, razing down his mansion including other properties worth hundreds of thousands. 

According to reports, the attack occurred in the early hours of Friday being Christmas day, December 25, 2020, when armed men stormed the community in speedboats shooting sporadically before setting buildings on fire. 

A family member said Ogunbos was attending a burial in the community only to witness the attack. 

”He is still in the community, doing fine, only that some properties were destroyed.”

Confirming the incident, Butswat Ansimi, State Command Public Relations Officer, said though normalcy has been restored, several properties were damaged, but no life was lost.
