In the build up to the 2023 general elections, a pressure group within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Democrats for Good Governance, has said the state will “eternally remain grateful to Governor Nyesom Wike for putting the interest of the state first, as that is the foundation of the numerous projects we see scattered all over the state today.”
In a release signed by its president, Engr. Chinedu Dickson, and secretary, Comr. Matthjas Tamunoemi, the group noted that the governor “is able to embark on the various projects in spite of serial attempts and efforts of the Abuja based APC members to scuttle his efforts.”
Dickson and Tamunoemi commended the governor for being “very pragmatic and focused even in the face of all the gimmicks by the mischief makers to distract him.
“We thank God for giving us Wike as our governor at this time, as the legacy projects executed by him have put Rivers State in the forefront in this country. That is the reason we have resolve to mobilize for him as he aspires to be the next president of this country.
“Chief Barrister E.N Wike has actually shown capacity to govern in such that even the blind feels the wind of positive change in the state, and only someone like him is needed at this time of our political history to change the narrative, following the administrative ineptitude of the APC-led Federal Government that is gradually sliding the country into oblivion.
“Chief Barrister Nyesom Wike has what it takes to contain the bandits, herdsmen, and all criminal elements terrorizing the country. He can grow our economy that is already in shambles and recalibrate the near failed states. Which is why we are calling on all PDP members and Nigerians in general to vote for him to become the next president of this country,” they said.
The duo however made “a passionate appeal to our amiable governor Chief Barrister E.N Wike and all other stakeholders of the party to endorse the special adviser to the governor on bureau on special project, Dakorinama Alabo George Kelly, to take over from the governor to ensure continuity of the laudable projects executed by our dear governor.
They argued that George Kelly has worked closely with the governor “and has so understood what the Governor stands for, and believes him. He has been tried at different occasions and on different projects by the governor and has successfully delivered in all. In other words, he has under-gone training in the school of thought of the governor and passed meritoriously.
“It is in the light of this therefore, that we are particularly inclined to humbly appeal to our dear governor and the party’s leadership to consider the young man in that direction.
“George Kelly is very willing to serve the state selflessly, like his boss Chief
Barrister E.N Wike. If this state must continue to see the kind of 1ight we
are seeing under this administration, if this state must continue to enjoy the peace we enjoy under Chief Barrister E.N Wike then we are strongly convinced that Dax George Kelly perfectly fits into the big shoes our dear governor, Chief Barrister E.N.Wike, PoSAfrica, the best performing governor of Nigeria is about to leave for us.
“As a matter of fact, we are pooling our resources together to purchase the intent declaration form for him,” they said.
