Group Commends NSCDC CG Over Fight against Soot In Rivers

South South Youth Initiative, SSYI, has heaped praises on the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Dr Ahmed Audi for his fight against illegal bunkering in the country and especially in Rivers State.

National President of SSYI, Comrade Imeabe Saviour Oscar who gave the commendation at a media briefing in Port Harcourt said the actions of the CG has helped in addressing the issue of sooth in Rivers State.

He said the Commandant General has repositioned the Corps towards effective service delivery through regular training of personnel and has also eliminated tribalism and nepotism in promotion of personnel.

The South South Youth leader said findings by the group reveals that Audi has performed tremendously well as Commandant General of the NSCDC.

“We have carried out series of investigations on the CG and his activities in office and as a responsible organization that deals with facts and not rumours or hearsay, we can state that CG Audi need to be commended for his hard work and commitment”

“We want to commend the effort of the CG in keeping sanity in the corps, maintaining and ensuring professional conduct among men and officers and promoting decency in the security formations. We are proud that with men like CG Audi that the nation is on the part of getting it right in the area of security,” he said.

While reeling out some of the achievements of Audi, the youth body said: “Under his leadership, 34 rifles were recovered from criminals in Imo State in December, 2021.

“He has ensured due respect for Federal Character in the appointment and posting of state commandants. These was not give attention by his predecessors, but he has ensured that all parts of the nation are given equal attention.

“He has worked assiduously in the fight against oil theft and illegal oil bunkering. The menace has reduced especially in South South and south East.

“That he has eliminated the soot that was disturbing Rivers State and other states of Niger Delta as a result of his success against illegal bunkering in the area.

“That he has ensured the regular payment of salaries and salary arrears owed men and officers of the corps before his assumption of office. He was able to ensure the payment of backlog of over N300 million to families of deceased and wounded officers of the corps. This is commendable”.

Oscar further said, “That the CG has ensured regular promotion of personnel based on federal character. He also worked for the establishment of Training Schools for carrier progression, especially the Command and Staff College Jos.

“That before this time, people lobby for promotion, but he eliminated all that and has maintained that officers and men are promoted on merit.

” We also re-emphasize that he has eliminated nepotism, tribalism and favoritism in posting of personnel to South-South States, especially, Rivers State command”.

The group however, called on President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to approve all necessary entitlements required for the smooth running of the Corps.
