Ahead of the November 6 governorship election in Bayelsa State, a non-governmental organization, South South Peace Mission, has embarked on sensitization against pipeline vandalism, cultism, electoral violence and other social ills that are prevalent in the South South of Nigeria.
Speaking to journalists before a rally in Yenagoa, national president/Founder of the group, Ambassador Ebiemie Makera Mighty, said they are collaborating with governments, traditional rulers, companies and other agencies to ensure there is peace in Edo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Cross River states.
He said the group is poised to drastically reduce and if possibly to bring to a halt the proliferation of horrible, intimidating and obnoxious forms of social vices prevalent, such as hooliganism, cultism, armed robbery, sea piracy, kidnapping, pipeline and oil well vandalism and insurgency.
“We say one love and say no to violence. Peace is the answer,” Ambassador Ebiemie Mighty said.
