Greg Atori for Burial, December 8

The funeral service for late Chief Evang. Greg Atori, a respected political leader, traditional chief and former president-general of Unenurhie community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State has been slated for December 8, 2023 at his hometown, Unenurhie.

A statement jointly signed by Mr. Jonathan Emoefe Atori, for the late Papa’s children, and Mr. Joseph Bicycle, for the family, read in part: “Service of Songs will take place on Wednesday 6th December, 2023 at his personal residence, along East-West federal road at Unenurhie community by St. Andrew’s African Church, Unenurhie. While on Friday 8th December, 2023, the corpse will depart Christian Gate Mortuary Services, Unenurhie for funeral service at the church in the community.

“Immediately after the funeral service by the church, the corpse will now depart for interment at his residence. After the body of the departed African Church Lay-Reader is committed to mother Earth, all the family members, sons in-law and invited guests will move to Unenurhie Primary School playing field for reception/general entertainment and in-laws’ traditional greetings to the family and their wives and siblings.

“The funeral rites will be rounded up with an Outing Service/Thanksgiving by the children and family members on 10th December, 2023 at St. Andrew’s African Church, Unenurhie.”

The children and the family further invited friends, the Unenurhie community, the African Church, social clubs and loved ones across Delta State and the country to stand with them to give their late father a befitting burial. 

The late Chief Evang. Greg Atori is survived by a wife, thirteen children and many grand children, including family members. He was aged 70 years.

Until his death, he served as a president-general of Unenurhie community and also received a chieftaincy title from Evwreni kingdom. He was also a highly respected Lay-Reader of the St. Andrew’s African Church, Unenurhie.
