The Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has proclaimed that Rivers State is one of the most peaceful destinations in Nigeria for tourists and business persons to visit and enjoy,
Governor Fubara made this declaration today during the All Nigeria Rotary Conference Port Harcourt, 2025, at the Dr. Obi Wali Int. Conference Centre in Port Harcourt.
According to Governor Fubara who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba, the People and Government of Rivers State are happy that the Bi-Annual, All-Nigeria Rotary Conference was held in the Garden City, thus exposing the State’s hospitable nature to other Nigerians.
“We deeply appreciate your choice of the city of Port-Harcourt as your place of convergence, and heartily welcome this gathering of business leaders, policy makers and global partners to the Garden City and the legendary hospitality of the jewel of the Niger Delta. Your presence is a testament, and a tick of pass-mark on the Scorecard that Rivers State is indeed Peaceful and Safe,” he enthused.
Sir Fubara further encouraged the Rotary District of Nigeria to cooperate and partner with the Rivers State Government in providing leadership training and mentorship to the teeming youths.
“The Rotary Club should partner with Government in mentoring energetic youths, to steer them away from social vices, and to direct their focus on positive endeavours that will help them realize their God-given potentials for their personal growth and service to humanity.
On peace and reconciliation: “Act as Mediators, practitioners and propagators of ethnic and religious tolerance, fairness, justice and equity, peace and unity, to stem the tide of disaffection in the polity”, he stressed.
He applauded the clubs’ attributes of helping to build goodwill and peace around the world, and particularly in Rivers State.
The host District Governor, Rotary International District 9141, 2025-2026 Rotary Year. Anthony Woghiren, thanked the Rotarian for their commitment to strengthening Rotary’s mission, empowering communities and elevating the spirit of service above self.
“As we gather in Port Harcourt for this landmark conference, we are inspired anew to unite for good, deepen our impact and prepare for greater possibilities ahead,” he said.
Governor Fubara was also awarded the Peace Advocate by Rotary District of Nigeria, for his resilience and dedication to the sustainance of peace in Rivers State.
