A legal practitioner and advocate against gender-based violence and acts against the girl-child, Dise Goddy Harry, has been conferred with a doctoral degree (PhD), Honoris Causa, in Gender and Social Development, by Benin Republic-based university, ESFAM Benin University, in Porto-Novo.
Registrar of the university, Dr. Ogoina Kingsley, who led other management staff of the institution to Yenagoa in Bayelsa State, said the award on Dise Goddy Harry Esq was in recognition of her service to humanity and contributions to a better society.
Dr. Kingsley described Barr. Ogbise-Harry as a worthy ambassador of Bayelsa State, whose impact on the fight against violence on women and children “is passionate.”
He said the university had been profiling her activities in the past ten years and found her worthy in character.
Dise Goddy Harry Esq, who is the chairman, Gender Response Initiative Team (GRIT) in Bayelsa State was visibly elated and expressed surprise at the honour conferred on her, promising to be a good ambassador of the university.
It was celebration galore as family members, friends and well-wishers poured encomium on the new doctorate degree honouree.
