The saying that a gold fish has no hiding place played out recently when Sani Ahmed, a brigadier general and commander of the 6 division Garrison of the Nigerian army in port Harcourt Rivers State was bestowed with an award as a distinguished security icon by the Niger Delta media forum for distinguishing himself in the discharge of his responsibilities to the Nigerian army, the Niger Delta region and the nation in general.
According to the organization, the Garrison commander was honored in recognition for his outstanding contributions and Commitments to fighting crime and criminality as well as ensuring peace and stability reigns in the Niger delta through effective deployment of the necessary arsenal in combatting the destruction of critical national assets by vandals and illegal oil bunkery.
Brigadier General Ahmed who also doubles as the commander of sector 3 right joint task force south-south, operation Delta safe whose major task is to protect the oil installations is the Niger delta and has not left anyone in doubt of his ability and capacity to deliver on his mandate as he has continued to ensure that the illegal oil bunkering activities and pipeline vandalism are brought to a halt and eradicated which have resulted to the to the increase in oil production and revenue for the country.
Responding the Garrison Commander who was represented at the ceremony by the commanding officer(C.O) in charge of administration, Colonel Onobosa Igbeghe expressed appreciation to the Niger Delta Media forum for the recognition and honor asserting that the award was not an individual effort but a collective one by the officers and soldiers of the brigade.
He maintained that he has been privileged to work with exceptional officers and soldiers who are committed to achieving excellence assuring that the award will spur them to achieving greater heights for the nation, and used the opportunity to thank the chief of army staff and the General officer commanding(G.O.C) 6 division of the Nigerian army for their support and encouragement, assuring that they will continue to put in their best in the interest of the nation.
