Fubara Swears-in Anabraba as New Rivers SSG

Emma Sunday
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has sworn-in Hon Benibo Anabraba as the New Secretary to the State Government (SSG), with a charge to guard the office with honour and protect interest of the State.
Governor Fubara gave the charge during a brief swearing in ceremony at the Government House Port Harcourt on Monday, hours after his appointment.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr Honour Sirawoo, had announced the appointment of Anabraba, in a statement issued earlier in Port Harcourt on Monday.
Governor Fubara during the swearing in urged the SSG not to use his new office to display power or show of office, but see it as a call to duty. He said, “God has brought you in at this particular time to be the Secretary to the Government of Rivers State.
“It is a position of honour, so guard that office with honour. Discharge your duties with respect, and protect interest of Rivers State, so that when you leave office, it will be with honour. You can only leave with honour when you discharge your duties responsibly.”
The Governor who expressed confidence on the capabilities of his former cabinet member and one time Minority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly to excel in his new office said, “Within the period we worked together, you did well as a very dedicated person.
“We are just coming out from a very bad situation, so we need to reassure the people of Rivers State that we mean well for them especially now that peace has returned to the State
“Please by the grace of God do your work very well to help us to succeed in this assignment that God Almighty has given to us.”
Hon. Anabraba, a former cabinet cabinet member under the Fubara-led administration, was among commissioners affected by the Supreme Court ruling that invalidated their appointment on grounds of not being screened by legally recognized Martin Amaehwule-led House of Assembly in the State.
