A popular PDP pressure group in Delta State during the 2023 general elections, known as the ‘Fidelis Support Group,’ has joined Deltans and Nigerians to congratulate the state’s governor-elect, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, as he received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday.

Speaking with our correspondent at the headquarters of the group in Evwreni town, Ughelli North Local Government Area, the founder and initiator of the group, Hon. Fidelis Adjogbe, who is also SSA (political) to the state governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, expressed joy and happiness over a hitch free exercise at Asaba.

He said: “It’s very difficult as a runner to jump over the runner ahead of you and also very close to the finishing line. This is just the story of our governor-elect, His Excellency, Hon. Chief Sheriff Oborevwori. He’s already at the finishing line. We, the members of Fidelis Support Group are happy that we never laboured in vain. In fact, we have reaped our expected harvest with much gains.

“On this note, on behalf of Fidelis Support Group, I hereby send our congratulatory message to our amiable in-law and governor-elect for his victory at the governorship polls and also for a successful presentation of certificate of return to him. At the moment, we are only waiting for the day of swearing in and nothing else.”

Also, the group’s co-ordinator, who was the councilor for Evwreni Ward 08, Hon. Desmond Okpako, congratulated the Delta State governor-elect, Hon. Oborevwori for receiving his certificate of return “without hindrances.”

Hon. Okpako also thanked his principal, Hon. Fidelis Adjogbe for leading the group on the right path which finally led to victory. He thanked members of the group for the sacrifice they made in mobilizing electorates to vote massively for the PDP in all the elections. He equally appealed to the governor-elect “to remember the group when the time comes.”

Another member and assistant co-ordinator of the group from Unenurhie community, Mr. Friday Diamond aka ‘Ogbo’ congratulated the governor-elect, Hon. Oborevwori, describing him as a man with a large heart and a true politician.

“A loser in every sports event will always boast and beat his chest until the trophy is finally handed over to the winner of the event. This is the same scenario we have find ourselves at the moment. In fact, the first trophy, that’s the certificate of return has just be presented to our governor-elect. We are now waiting for the second trophy which is the swearing in that will take place on May 29th. That will be a great celebration of victory for us in the Fidelis Support Group.

“Like in my community, we are rest assured that, all our dreams and aspirations have come to reality with the emergence of Hon. Chief Sheriff Oborevwori as the governor of the state. We have all worked for the victory and the success stories. There is a particular race we are running as a community. With this victory, my hope is very much alive. Once again, congratulations to our able governor-elect,” he said.
