The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is set to establish a Driving Training Centre at the University of Port Harcourt, located at the Centre for Logistics and Transport Studies (CELTRAS) in NIMASA House. A team from FRSC national headquarters inspected the facilities on September 12, 2025, as part of the Driving School Standardization Programme (DSSP) requirements.
The FRSC team, led by Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed (represented by CC Sunday Attah), expressed satisfaction with CELTRAS’s facilities, praising the director, Prof. Collins Wizor and the Academic Board.
The Driving Training Centre will train prospective and existing drivers, award certificates, and issue driver’s licenses when operational.
Uniport’s Vice Chancellor welcomed the initiative, highlighting its potential for academic excellence and national development.
Vital materials were handed over to the Vice Chancellor by the Corps Marshal and Rivers State Sector Commander.
This development underscores FRSC’s commitment to enhancing driving standards and road safety in Nigeria. The centre might serve as a pilot scheme, potentially leading to replication in other parts of the country.
