Former Vice Chairman of Opobo-Nkoro Local Government Area, Hon. Angela Anthony Oju-kienmie has canvassed for support for the All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairmanship candidate for the local government area in the August 30 elections in the state, Barr. James James.
Oju-kienmie who spoke to newsmen at the venue of the flag-off of the APC campaign rally for the Local Council elections in the state, expressed joy the emergence of an Nkoro son as the APC candidate for the local government area, describing the development as a dream come true for the Nkoro kingdom.
“I am most grateful to God for the good things done to the Nkoro kingdom where I come from. For years, we never had the opportunity to be the chairman of of Opobo-Nkoro local government area. It has always been our neighbors, our brothers from Opobo kingdom. To my people of Nkoro kingdom, I want to say, çongratulations to all of us,” Oju-kienmie stated.
Oju-kienmie who is the founder, Angela and the Rising Stars Initiatives (ARISE) charged all residents of Opobo-Nkoro local government area, particularly the Nkoro people to stand firm with the APC Chairmanship candidate, Barr. James James to emerge victorious at the election stressing that the emergence of an Nkoro son as the Chairman of the Council was what they have been advocating and craving for over the years.
She therefore called on the people to stand together in unity and harmony and to avoid all forms of segregation, or discrimination in the area noting that Nkoro people are well known for their hospitality, resilience, doggedness and peaceful dispositions.
“It is what we have been craving for and God has brought it into our hands. Let us therefore work together in unity and harmony and stand with our son and his Deputy.
” There should be no segregation or discrimination, people should avoid any toxic situation. I know that the incoming Chairman, Barr. James, will carry his Vice Chairman along,” she said.
Oju-kienmie, a fellow of the Chattered Institute of Environmental and Public Health Management of Nigeria, (FIEPHMN) Rivers State chapter equally expressed delight at the peaceful process of governance and reconciliations that has come to pervade the political leadership in the State, pointing out that God was strategizing and repositioning the State for unity, progress and development.
