Evwreni Odion’rode Starts Reconciliation Process At Unenurhie Community

The Odion’Rode of Evwreni kingdom, His Highness, James Amuke, has sued for peace as part of efforts towards reconciliation and ending the power tussle rocking Unenurhie community, his primary domain in the Evwreni kingdom.

In an enlarged meeting called by the traditional ruler at his palace in Unenurhie community, the Odion’Rode pointed out that peace is paramount to the success of any leadership.

He therefore urged all parties involved in the leadership issue to sheath their swords and return to peace.

In his presentation during the meeting, the immediate past president-general of Unenurhie community, Mr. Peter Maison, said “This meeting called by our traditional ruler is a cherished one. However, the first step in the reconciliation process is for Mr. Kingdom Okpavwarire, Mr. Moneyard Edjere, Mr. Johnson Abrucha and others to withdraw all cases over this leadership tussle pending in the law courts and the Nigeria Police for amicable and peaceful settlement. Without taking this step, the reconciliation can’t work as expected.”

Responding on behalf of the opposition group after discussions on the matter, Mr. Kingdom Okpavwarire said, “First, we agreed that, the settlement as initiated by our Odion’Rode is a welcome development and we are part to it.

“On the issue of cases pending in courts and the Nigeria Police, we also agreed to withdraw all of them for this reconciliation process to take place effectively. On behalf of my people, I want to thank our traditional ruler and his council of elders and to also accept this Mr. Williams Ilayah led UCDU leadership in the community. Let’s forget about the past to enable us move forward as a community. We are indeed grateful to all of you,” he said.

Also during the meeting, community leaders, such as a notable chief in Evwreni kingdom, High Chief Gordon Ogbovwa; president-general of Unenurhie community, Mr. Williams Ilayah; Evang. Pa. James Ovwighose from Warri Branch and Mama Adjari Ephron, the Odiotu’Ewheya (Woman leader) of the community called on the opposition group to withdraw the cases immediately so that, peace could prevail in the community.

They also called on the community youths to toe the path of peace and love since the Odion’Rode and his council of elders had taken over the matter as requested by the DPO, A Division, Ughelli police station, for the community to go home and recocile.

The Odion’Rode who was overwhelmed with joy following the outcome of the meeting applauded all elders and leaders that attended the peace meeting. He therefore warned against any action by any of the parties involved in the peace meeting that could truncate the reconciliation initiative.
