Eruemukohwarien Agog As Ekpubeni Commits In-Law to Mother Earth

Eruemukohwarien community, in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, was agog on Saturday 27, February, 2021 as children, family members and in-laws of late Mr. Joseph Onisuru Asahwiare laid the committed Jehovah witness to rest in his home town.

The funeral service, which was held at his compound, was according to the beliefs and practices of Jehovah Witnesses.

After the interment, a reception was put together by the children, family members and in-laws for guests at Izomo Primary School playing field in the oil-rich community.

Following this, as is the custom and tradition of the Urhobo people, the stage was set for the deceased’s in-laws’ traditional greetings to their wives and the bereaved family.

When it was the turn of Chief Reuben Ekpubeni, the ‘Elo’ of Uwheru kingdom, it was with pomp and pageantry as his traditional greetings to his lovely wife, Chief Mrs Ekpubeni and the family was markedly splendid.

After the greetings, the chief told our correspondent that, “We are indeed happy today for a peaceful burial accorded my late brother in-law. Without missing words, the death of Mr. Joseph Onisuru Asahwiare created a very big vacuum in the family. We pray God to fill that vacuum soon with such a kind-hearted man.

“He was truly a man of love and peace. He was a very committed Jehovah Witness and this made him to be upright in everything he did while on earth. To me and my family, it was very big loss. We shall continue to miss his visits to us and other support to my family.

“Let me at this point express my sincere appreciations to my family members from Uwheru town, my church members in Ughelli here, friends and other numerous guests that accompanied me to this burial ceremony. On behalf of my lovely wife, the reason why we are here today and my lovely children, I say thank you and God bless you for sharing your precious time and money with me and my family on this occasion despite your crowded activities today,” he said.

The late Mr. Joseph Onisuru Asahwiare, aged 71, was survived by children, family members and many loved ones.
