Association of Waterfront Coordinators has called on youths in Nigeria to tow the line of peace, following the ‘ENDSARS’ protest which turned violent over the past week.
Addressing the press recently, president of the association, Comrade Sam Ateke, said that the protest which kicked off peacefully all over the country was however hijacked by hoodlums that resulted in loss of human lives and destruction of properties worth billions of Naira.
He condemned in strong terms the senseless approach of criminals in painting an ugly image of genuine protesters, pointing out that it will take time to rebuild the infrastructures destroyed.
Similarly, Ateke frowned at the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for their recalcitrant action, adding that they deliberately hijacked the peaceful protest and unleashed mayhem in Oyigbo, parts of Etche and Afam.
He commended the governor of Rivers State, Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, for his proactive measures and hailed his gallant approach in quelling the hydra-headed monster.
The Waterfront association leader, who also contested the House of Assembly seat under the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 2019 general elections, advised the youths not to allow themselves to be used by unscrupulous elements in the society to foment trouble in any guise, stressing that they are future leaders of tomorrow.
