Emir of Zazzau Visits Ovie of Agbon, Calls for National Unity

As part of efforts to strengthen the relationship among traditional rulers in the country, the Emir of Zazzau in Kaduna State, HRM Alhaji Nuhu Ahmed Bamalli has paid a visit to Ogurimerime Ukori 1, HRM Mike Omeru, the Ovie of Agbon kingdom at his palace in Otorho-Agbon, headquarters of Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State.

A notable chief from the palace who spoke to newsmen confirmed that the Emir’s visit was as a result of familiarization for the purpose of unity among traditional rulers, towards ensuring their input to the overall development of the nation.

Addressing the people of the kingdom, HRM Mike Omeru, Ukori 1, Ovie of Agbon kingdom said, the Emir of Zazzau’s visit marks a remarkable day in the annals of Agbon kingdom.

He said “Agbon kingdom is one of the kingdoms in Urhobo Nation that accommodates strangers and ensures peace and tranquillity. So, your coming to the palace of the Ovie of Agbon kingdom today is a sign of the love you have for the people of the kingdom in particular and the Urhobo Nation at large.”

The Agbon Monarch also said, “you are no longer a stranger, the people of Agbon kingdom have taken you as one of their own, and we are very happy over your visit to the kingdom which is a welcome development.”  

Noting that Agbon kingdom comprises six sub-clans, the traditional ruler used the opportunity to call on political leaders to look into the socio-economic challenges facing the people in the country.

According to him, “everywhere in the country is hard for the masses, and our leaders should try to proffer solution to it, so as to cushion the effects of the challenges facing the country right now.” 

The Agbon royal father therefore, commended the Emir of Zazzau and his entourage over the visit assuring the Emir of cordial relationship. He also 

acknowledged the people of the kingdom who came out in their large numbers to welcome the traditional ruler of Zazzau to Agbon kingdom. 

Others who spoke, commended the Emir and his people for their efforts over the visit. The visit also featured Urhobo Ema traditional dance and various dances being displayed by the women of the kingdom who were selected from the six sub-clans that make up the Agbon kingdom.
