It was a blend of both Urhobo and Yoruba cultures recently as Mr. Daniel Godwin Ekpokpobe, a renowned All Progressives Congress, APC, member and key supporter of the Omo-Agege gubernatorial race from Oviore-Ovu community, Agbon kingdom in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State wedded his Ondo State-born heartthrob, Miss Rafiu Sadia.
The traditional marriage, which took place in Akure, the Ondo State capital on October 29, 2022, in line with the dictates of the Yoruba culture and under the guidance of the bride’s father, Mr. Rafiu Isiaka, brought together personalities from the two ethnic nationalities.
Our correspondent reports that Daniel Godwin Ekpokpobe and his heartthrob, Sadia, were legally joined together as husband and wife at the marriage registry as soon as they had completed the traditional marital rites at the bride’s father’s family compound.
A thanksgivings service was held later, on November 13, 2022, at Christ Chosen Church of God, Oviore-Ovu community, after the couple and the guests that accompanied the groom to Akure, had returned to Delta State.
During the thanksgivings service, the officiating pastor blessed the couple and advised them to always remember and faithfully keep their marital vows to each other as a Christian couple. The service ended with the pastor praying for peace and abundant blessings upon the new couple and all those that accompanied them to the thanksgivings service.
In a chat with our correspondent during the reception after the church service, the groom, Mr. Ekpokpobe who was highly elated expressed gratitude to family members, friends and guests that graced the two occasions.
“We are very happy today and we want to thank God for the success of the marriage ceremony. God protected and directed every of our steps and all the activities in this marriage ceremony with joy and happiness. Again, I and my lovely wife want to sincerely appreciate all my family members for their personal efforts and contributions to the success of this our marriage.
“In the same way, we want to thank our church members especially the pastors for their prayers and also thank all social clubs and guests that joined us to celebrate our union today. We are grateful for their support. By the grace of God, we are starting this our marriage on a good footing and foundation and we are very much happy for this great miracle from God,” he said.
The reception ended with the presentation of gifts to the couple, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Godwin Ekpokpobe by guests and social clubs that graced the occasion.
