Eastern Port: CP Peterside Honoured for ‘Fight against Crime’

The saying that a golden fish has no hiding place played out recently when the commissioner of Police in charge of the Eastern Ports Command, Evelyn Tammy Peterside, was honoured by media professionals in the Niger Delta, under the umbrella of the Niger Delta Media Forum, “for distinguishing herself in discharge of her responsibilities to the Police force and the nation in general.”

Peterside, who bagged an Award of Excellence, according to the Niger Delta media group, was also honoured for her “outstanding leadership and commitment to the fight against crime and criminality in her jurisdiction and the society which has repositioned the Eastern Port Command of the Nigeria Police Force for greater efficiency and effective service delivery to the stakeholders, as well as restoring peace and security in the area.”

While commending the CP for the various achievements recorded so far since her assumption of office, the media group said the award was intended to spur her, officers and men of the command to continue to put in their best in the service to the nation and mankind.

Responding, the CP expressed appreciation to the Niger Delta Media Forum for the honour done her which she described as very surprising in view of the short period she had stayed in the office at the command, stressing that the achievements recorded so far were as a result of collective efforts by officers and men of the command.

She however used the opportunity to admonish the officers and men of the command to always put in their best in whatever they do, adding that there will always be a reward for hard work. She further assured that the award will spur her and men to put in their best.

The award ceremony which was brief but colourful was graced by the deputy commissioner, Monday Agbonika, officers and men of the command who lauded the group for the honour done to their CP.
