As part of efforts aimed at fighting the war against illicit drugs in society, the NDLEA held a sensitization program on February 18, 2025 as the State Commander NDLEA Bayelsa State Command Commander Kanu Sunny Chukwuemeka, has flagged off a 5-Day WADA sensitization campaign with the Theme: ‘Safer Communities Without Illicit Drugs’ in Amassoma community, in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
A statement signed by Obah Daniel Howells, SN, Public Relations Officer of NDLEA, Bayelsa State command, said Day 1 activities featured Anti Drug Abuse lectures at Government Secondary Amassoma and Community Secondary School, Amassoma.
Resource persons were, DSC DDR DCN Francis Chia, and ACN Godwin Erepa and the program was well attended by both head and members of Amassoma Vigilante Group and counterparts from the Boy Scout in Amassoma.
The statement added that the programme received the full support of Engr. Godknows Alamieyeseigha, State Director, NDDC Bayelsa State, who hails from Amassoma and feels burdened by the alarming rate of drug abuse among youths.
