Diri Appoints Asangba, Post Primary Board Chairman

The executive chairman of the Bayelsa State Post Primary School Board, Chief Millionaire Asangba, newly appointed by Governor Douye Diri (PPSB), has said that the reason why he redeployed the board members to various departments was to ensure a smooth running of the board under his administration.

He stated this shortly after assumption of duties as the chairman of the state post primary schools board in Yenagoa.

According to Asangba, those deployed and their various departments are, Hon Kalsuo Deo Doupere (Yenagoa), who will take care of Human Resources Management, while Chief Saviour Ibegu, (Ogbia), the immediate past commissioner of Community Development and Chieftaincy, will be in charge of Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS), while  Hon. Egbe Fiyesinkumo Gibson heads Public Affairs and Welfare.

All board members, he said, were drawn from the eight local government areas of the state so as to ensure equity and fairness.

Other board members include, Hon Nanakumo Robert (Sagbama), to be in charge of Sports Development; Engr.Idibiye David (Nembe), Project Development; Hon. Bazigha Tanwei Stanley (Southern Ijaw), Supervision Department and Engr. Digitimie Innocent (Brass), Science & Technology /Education Services Department.

Speaking to journalists after an unscheduled visit to the zonal headquarters in Yenagoa, Chief Millionaire Asangba, a former PPSB board member, decried absenteeism among teachers, stressing that the board under his watch would not tolerate and condole dereliction of duties and absenteeism by teachers without obtaining permission from their principals.

“This unscheduled visit to the zonal office is the beginning and I use this medium to warn teachers against any act that would breach the existing harmony between teachers and the board,” he said.
