Dickson Drums Support for Candidates of Restructuring

 

… As Ajienka heads 11-man INC steering committee

Ahead the 2019 general elections, the Ijaw ethnic nationality has been charged to queue behind candidate that is poised for restructuring that would promote peaceful, egalitarian, fair, equity and justice in the country. The Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson spoke on the sidelines of the inauguration of an 11- man steering committee of the Conference of Ijaw Traditional Rulers and Elders held at the Traditional Rulers Secretariat in Yenagoa.

According to Governor Dickson, all the Ijaws drawn from Delta, Rivers, Ondo and Bayelsa states have agreed to gather at the Jerusalem of Ijaw Nation (Bayelsa State) to set up a steering committee that will last for three months to pilot the affairs of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) and was mandated to conduct elections after the general elections while the electoral committee would commence their assignment.

“All fathers and leaders have agreed to have in place a steering committee, the electoral commission should continue with their work after the general elections, we will all gather here to conduct to conduct a free, fair and credible elections,” he said.

He advised the traditional rulers and leaders not relent in preaching peace, stability, justice, law abiding and equity in all their communities.

He therefore congratulated the 11-man committee headed by Professor Joseph Ajienka, former vice chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt.

The former vice chancellor, of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Joseph Ajienka not only as assured the governor that his committee will not disappoint the confidence reposed in them, they would perform their assignment with due diligent and integrity.

He also reiterated that the traditional rulers and their subjects should ensure they support a candidate that will stand up to promote justice, as Ijaw stands for equitable distribution of resources and gave an assurance that before a proper INC executive will be elected after the general elections, the steering committee will be charge of the affairs of the Ijaw Nation.
