A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Evwreni Ward, who is also a respected youth leader in Unenurhie community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Diamond Friday aka ‘Ogbo’, has called for unity among APC faithful in Evwreni Ward.

He urged them to toe the path of unity instead of tearing the party into factions that won’t do any good for the progress of the party in the electoral ward.

The young politician made this declaration recently at his hometown, Unenurhie, when the vice president-general of Unenurhie community, Evang. Isaac Oriodofe, who is also a member of the party, played host to a reconciliation meeting for aggrieved party members in the community during the ward congresses of the party recently conducted across the country.

Mr. Diamond told the gathering that, “In Evwreni Ward, APC is now one and not divided again. We want to represent the party’s national symbol of a bunch of broom. We know that, one piece of broomstick can’t clean a dirty place. It’s when they tie all broomsticks together that they can do the job of cleaning a dirty environment well. I believe, this is what we have achieved in today’s reconciliation meeting within APC members in Unenurhie community.

“Let’s forget about our past mistakes. They won’t take us to an expected end. Rather, it will continue to breed enmity, hatred, anarchy and finally, tear the party apart into different factions. I’m happy that we have corrected some of the mistakes made during the recently conducted ward congress in Evwreni Ward.”

The youth leader noted that, “Today, we have corrected such mistakes among us. We are now one as it supposed to be. As a bunch of broom, we will sweep off all the political dirt in Evwreni Ward come 2023. No matter how you want to define it, Evwreni as an electoral ward or as a kingdom is incomplete if you remove Unenurhie community. Without doubt, Unenurhie community is an independent community in Evwreni Ward or kingdom considering our status in the making of the ward or the kingdom.

“We are supposed to take our rightful position and not to give us the crumbs from the dining table after sharing the food. This is what we are against. We are capable of settling our scores here in Unenurhie instead of a foreigner or a third party to come in to destroy the system for us.

“Let me at this time appreciate our political fathers in this our great political party for their selfless and huge sacrifices and enormous contributions. I’m talking about Olorogun O’tega Emerhor and Chief Engr. Samuel Adjogbe. They are two leaders Unenurhie community can rely on at any time. Finally, we have agreed on different terms in this reconciliation meeting.”

In the same way, the host of the reconciliation meeting, Evang. Isaac Oriodofe advocated for peace and unity of all APC members in the entire ward.

He said, “We must be wise this time to quickly know some of these ravaging wolves sent from other political parties to destroy us. They are pretending to be our members for now, but the truth is that, they are sent on a deadly mission against 2023 general elections. We thank God that at the end of the meeting, we were able to reconcile the house.”

The meeting, attended by over sixty members including men, women and youths, ended with issuing of different terms of agreement based on the party executive positions zoned to Unenurhie community.
