The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Evwreni Ward 08, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Marcus Uba, aka ‘Lodbroke,’ has vowed that he would be the next councillor of the ward come Saturday March 6, 2021 when the local government elections would be held across the state.
Addressing the mammoth crowd of APC leaders, members and supporters that recently gathered at Evwreni town in a campaign rally staged by the party, ‘the Honourable,’ as Mr. Uba is fondly called by his political fans said, “We have suffered long enough in this Evwreni Ward in the hands of the PDP. This is why I’m assuring all of you in Evwreni and Unenurhie communities that, it’s our turn to produce the next councillor as designed by God in Evwreni Ward.
“However, this promise and vow is not by force or by violence. We in APC believe in free and fair elections. This has been our watchword all this while. This is why I’m calling on all Evwreni people to vote massively for the APC if really we want a change in Evwreni kingdom. This is the time to speak against bad governance in the land. With our voter’s cards, we can truly make those changes we need for Evwreni to move forward in development and growth. The councillorship position is for all of us in the ward. It’s not perpetually and naturally a birthright of a particular political party or a group of hijackers in Evwreni Ward. Let everybody come out en masse that election day and vote for APC,” he said.
Meanwhile, the APC chairman in the ward, Mr. Solomon Akpobasa, has advised all APC members to desist from violence during the election. According to the party chairman, “Evwreni is a focal point of APC in Ughelli North LGA and Delta State. This is because one of the founding member and national leader, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, is from Evwreni Ward. Also, our former EDP, NDDC, Chief (Engr.) Samuel Adjogbe, is from here too.
“Apart from this, the handiwork of the party is here for all to see in terms of roads construction, different empowerment programmes and other visible projects in the Evwreni Ward. These are enough to cast our votes for the APC in Evwreni Ward. At least, power must change hands this time around. Enough is enough of this political marginalization in Evwreni Ward. Come out on Saturday and vote for Mr. Marcus Uba of our great party,” he said.
Also speaking during the campaign rally, an APC popular chieftain and Unenurhie community youth chairman, Mr. Friday Diamond, aka ‘Ogbo,’ said, “I want to advise the Evwreni people especially those from Unenurhie, my community to face this challenge of political marginalization squarely by coming out en masse to vote for APC on Saturday. We have no better time to create these changes than now.
“I’m making a promise to my Unenurhie people that, they shouldn’t be discouraged again, APC is here to make the needed changes on the ground of equity, justice and fairness. The position belongs to all of us. We can decide who to represent us as a councilor with our voter’s cards. The time of oppression is over now. I therefore encourage you to vote massively for Mr. Marcus Uba. He’s our choice and desired candidate of our great party. Let’s avoid division and fractions within the party. This is the time to show them the strength of our unity. All our leaders in the party are solidly behind this struggle.”
