Court Acquits Emohua Youth Leader

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has discharged and acquitted the deputy chairman of the Youth Movement in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief Fubara Ohaka, of charges filed against him by Federal Government.

Chief Ohaka, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress has been standing trial on six counts of alleged involvement in illegal oil bunkering, terrorism, dealing on Illegally refined products without licence, conspiracy amongst other charges brought against him by the Federal Government through the Department of State Services since 2022.

In his ruling, Justice Stephen Dalyop-Pam held that the Federal Government failed to provide evidence to back their claims, hence failed to prove their allegations against the Defendant.

The trial judge however agreed to a no-case submission by counsel to the defendant and thereby discharged and acquitted him.

In an interview with our correspondent, Chief Fubara Ohaka, expressed happiness that the court had vindicated him from every allegations and “shamed all those who conspired to tarnished my good image.”

He however commended those who stood by him during his trying times.
