Corp Members are Our Nation’s Pride, Future ~ Diri

Corps Members have been described as the pride and future of the nation.

The governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri said this at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Boro Town during the Opening/ Swearing – In ceremony of 2024 Batch A stream 2 Prospective corps members deployed to the state for national service.

The governor, who was represented by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mrs Grace Tarinabo, congratulated them for the successful completion of their academic programmes, and described them as patriots on national assignment.

He welcomed them to Bayelsa and wished them a successful orientation course and fruitful service year.

He further expressed gratitude to the NYSC for her commitment to fostering unity and national integration as well as its pivotal role in shaping the lives of the young graduates by instilling in them the virtues of discipline, patriotism and self-less service to the nation.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Bayelsa State government to the welfare of the corps members, in providing necessary support and assistance to ensure a fruitful and memorable service year.

Earlier, the state coordinator, Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity in her address thanked the governor, collaborating partners and other distinguished guests for their presence.

She advised corps members to take orientation course serious, adding that careful and deliberate programmes had been well designed to adequately prepare and equip them for optimum performance during and after national service .

She specially thanked Governor Douye Diri for his support to NYSC and expressed optimism that the completion of the on-going hostels construction will greatly address accommodation challenge at the camp.

Highlights of the event were the administration of National and NYSC Pledges on the corps members by the state chief judge, Hon. Justice Maltide Abrakasa Ayemieye who was represented by Hon. Justice I. Eradiri.
