A medical consultant in Rivers State, Dr Ngozi Toby, has called for collaboration among civil rights organizations, corporate bodies, non- governmental groups and other well- meaning individuals, including government at all levels, to massively support women and the vulnerable in the society.
Speaking with PH Mundial recently in Port-Harcourt on the neglect of the women folk in government policies and programmes, Toby stressed the need for improved collaboration with development partners in women empowerment, noting that the job should not be left with the government alone to handle.
She said that the government at all levels, should demonstrate strong political will and commitment in formulating policies and guidelines, to act as the required framework to achieve the goal of improving the lot of women and the vulnerable.
She, therefore, called for “greater support from development partners to foster strong synergy with government to alleviate the sufferings of the women and the vulnerable in the state”.
The medical expert used the opportunity to commend Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara and other government stakeholders, for ensuring that women and the vulnerable are considered in their respective services and empowerment programmes for posterity.
Dr Ngozi Toby further encouraged non governmental groups, corporate bodies, captains of industries, religious organizations, community leaders, among other stakeholders, to support the move by government to help build better and lasting transformation, and fabulous dividends of democracy to women and the vulnerable among us.
Meanwhile, Dr Ngozi Toby, has tasked Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other stakeholders, to ensure that women and the vulnerable are catered for, in terms of building sound minded women and youths of our forebears dreams for rapid development.
She urged the governor and his team, including stakeholders, to help in bringing the women folk to the front burner of development in the state.
Toby also used the avenue to commend President Bola Tinubu for restoring democratic governance in the state, going by the truce he brokered.
Toby, however, enjoined Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of the State Assembly, among other stakeholders, to work together in harmony in order to drag the eluded dividends of democracy to Rivers people, rather than working against the administration of Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara and his team of technocrats.
