Coker Celebrates 75th Birthday in Style

 

Friday April 11, 2025 marked a joyous dawn in the life of Chief Sir Jimmy Nath Coke, as family members dignitaries, friends and well-wishers from various walks of life came out in their numbers at Wesley Methodist Church at No. 1 Harbour Road Port Harcourt to celebrate him on the auspicious occasion of his 75th birthday.

Beaming with smiles while responding to questions from our reporter after the service, within the church premises, Coker first thanked God and also praised Him for providing and sustaining him all these number of years on earth, particularly all the challenges he encountered in 2020 when he was about to celebrate his 70th birthday.

“I think my 75th birthday today has not only been wonderful but very glorious, considering the fact that God has actually given me the strength to be doing what is right in His sight.

“Truly, I make bold to say that my 75th years on earth has been very remarkable, faithful and above all, very rewarding when I look back and see where I’m coming from and the much impact I have made on lives.

“Therefore, my candid advice to others who are aspiring to attain such great age is to have a pure and clean heart in whatever thing they are doing”.

The visibly elated Jimmy Coker also took time to thank everyone, including the team of clergymen that graced the event while praying God to bless them all.

“Besides, I must not also fail to commend the good supportive effort of my special wife, Lady Evang. Dr. Kalamama Coker and all my caring children who were very wonderful in their support towards my success story today, while I’m also equally praying God to bless them abundantly too”.

Speaking in a separate interview, Sir Jimmy Coker’s first son, Mr. James Tonye Olu Coker, could not hold back his happiness as he described his father as a hero and good man who is known to champion the cause of Christianity and humanity over the years.

His words; “I love my dad so much. On behalf of the family, it is my wish to see him attain many more years ahead in order to continue doing the good work of humanity. Unarguably, my father’s show of commitment and lifestyle is worthy of emulation anywhere he is”.

The amiable Tonye Olu Coker took time to thank all who had defied their programmes for the day in order to honour the invitation of his father, while asking God to reward them abundantly in all their endeavors.

On her part, wife of the Chief celebrant, Lady Evangelist Dr. Kalamama Coker expressed happiness seeing her husband Sir Jimmy Coker clock 75th years.

According to her, “it has been very wonderful and a thing of joy to give the Lord special thanks for preserving his life in spite of some life threatening challenges in the past.

“I therefore, pray God that had preserved him till now to continue to sustain him, believing that he will not deviate from doing that which is good in the sight of God that had been attracting blessings for him at all times”.

Earlier during the church sermon, the officiating minister His Grace, the Most Rev. Dr. Effiong Asuquo Esedeke of Methodist Archbishop of Port Harcourt, reading from the Gospel book of Luke 17:11-19 reiterated the importance of giving special thanks to God for His good deeds to everyone.

While eulogizing the good qualities of Sir Jimmy Coker in Christendom, Rev. Esedeke also took time to commend the celebrant for coming out to appreciate the good work God has done for him, relating it to the story in the Holy Bible about the ten lepers Jesus healed, of whom only one came back to glorify God for His mercy.

The respected man of God however enjoined all Christian faithful to do well to emulate the good steps of Sir Jimmy Coker in coming forward to appreciate God with special thanksgiving, which he said will undoubtedly attract more blessings from God Almighty.

Highpoints of the event, include the presentation of electrical items, worth thousands of naira, to the church by Sir Jimmy Coker’s family, and the cutting of the 75th birthday cake.
