Cleric Lands in Cell for Impregnating 15-Year Old in Rivers

A fifty five year old Cleric and resident Pastor of Gracious Covenant Church in Rundele community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Pillar is now cooling off in police cell after he was arrested for defiling and impregnating a fifteen year old member.

Pastor Pillar’s arrest, we gathered, followed a compliant made by one Mr. Amesi ThankGod, an in-law to the fifteen year old girl.

ThankGod in an interview with Journalists said the teenage girl usually visits the church for relaxation whenever her mother goes to farm, only to return home in the evening.

He said “In last few days the fifteen year old girl was vomiting, before my wife (her elder sister) took her to for medical test and the test result showed that she was pregnant”.

Explaining further, Mr. ThankGod accused the Pastor of allegedly threatened to kill the 15 year old girl if she tells anyone what transpired between both of them.

According to Mr ThankGod, the Pastor, admitted to be responsible for the pregnancy, after the elder sister of girl took her to the church premises.

He revealed that, Pastor Pillar pleaded with the elder sister of the teenager for him to give her an abortion drug to flush out the pregnancy but the family of the girl resisted his suggestion.

PHMundial gathered that it took the intervention of a local vigilante group in the community to stop the Cleric from being mobbed when the the news of the incident went viral in the community, before personnels of Rumuji Police Division came for his arrest.

Meanwhile human rights advocacy group, Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign in a statement by it’s National Coordinator, Comrade Prince Wiro has called on the police to ensure thorough investigation into the incident without bias or sentiment.

The Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident and noted that the command has commenced investigation.
