Bille Stands Still For New Amayanabo, As Dignitaries Hail Agbaniye-Jike XVIII

Amidst pomp and pageantry, the crème de la crème of the society attended the coronation of the newly crowned Amayanabo of Bille kingdom in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, King Igbikingeri Ngowari Cornelius Herbert, Agbaniye-Jike XVIII.

The week-long event came to a climax on Saturday, April 3, 2021 as the ancient kingdom historically installed a new monarch after over twelve years.

Dignitaries from all walks of life came in their numbers to witness the epoch event which attracted eminent personalities, including royal fathers, government functionaries, captains of industry, men and women from the entertainment industry and several others.

The Bille Town Hall was filled to the brim as erudite scholars of repute dwelt on topical traditional issues during the coronation lecture to the admiration of guests who attended the event.

At the coronation proper, the Amayanabo of Nembe and chairman of the event, His Eminence, King Edmund Daokuru, explained that the relationship between Nembe and Bille goes a long way historically, adding that the fraternal bond will forever be strengthened and sustained.

He applauded the community on their resilience and called for unity and support for the new monarch.

Governor of Rivers State, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, represented by Rt. Hon. Austin Opara, former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, lauded the peaceful disposition of Bille people, adding that the state government has approved the upgrade of their chieftaincy stool from third (3rd) class to second (2nd) class status, adding that the official presentation of staff of office and recognition will soon be accorded to the Bille monarch.

HRH, Mustapha Zubairu Adams, 1st class traditional ruler of Gom-Mama, Nassarawa State, extolled the virtues of Bille people, adding that they and his people share strong historical links as brothers. He further noted that they will always maintain a warm cordial relationship at all times.

Representatives of kith and kin of Bille people from across Nigeria poured encomiums on the monarch, praying for God’s guidance for a successful reign.

Clerics from different denominations were on hand to spiritually give support to the new king. Bishop of the Niger Delta Diocese, (Anglican Communion) Ralph Ebirien, finally did the crowning to the glory of God.

Our correspondent reports that several prominent sons and daughters of the kingdom said Bille is witnessing a new dawn, as they expressed belief that the kingdom will witness peace and progress.

Former chairman of Bille kingdom Community Development, Asatubo Kemuel Igbanibo, later told our correspondent that he was overwhelmed with the turnout of guests who identified with the kingdom, expressing his belief that the new king will take the community to a greater height.
