Bayelsa Varsity, NDU Shut Down Over Students’ Protest

The Bayelsa State-owned Niger Delta University, Amassoma has been shut down as a result of protest embarked upon by students over uniforms and closing of school fees portal.

The state commissioner for Education, Dr Gentle Emelah, however said government had intervened on the lingering issues.

As at the time of filling this report, sources said the management of the institution and the vice chancellor are in close door meeting with members of the state House of Assembly at the complex in Yenagoa.

A source at the university told our correspondent that the embattled university vice chancellor, Prof Samuel Edoumiekumo, had earlier ordered students to vacant the school by 3 pm today.

A message sent on WhatApp to the vice chancellor was not responded to.
