The Bayelsa State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has congratulated the 5th elected governor of the state, Senator Douye Diri.
In a statement by the SWAN chairman, Alambo Datonye, and the Secretary, George Ameli, the body described his assumption of office as heartwarming.
It noted that being a onetime commissioner for Sports in the state under the administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, his tenure will usher in a glorious era in sports development.
The statement urged the governor to bring his wealth of experience to bear and transform the sports sector in the state through provision of standard infrastructure, facilities, equipment, enhanced welfare and motivation for athletes and adequate funding.
It further wished the Governor Diri-led administration a fruitful tenure in all sectors, especially sports, as the state SWAN expressed its willingness to partner the new administration in the promotion and development of sports in the state.
