Bayelsa Monarch Honours Lawmaker, Others with Chieftaincy Titles

The Ekowe Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State was agog penultimate Saturday as the community’s civic centre was filled to the rafters as the people came in their numbers to celebrate the epochal and historic conferment of chieftaincy titles on four “messianic leaders” by His Royal Highness of Ekowe Community in Bomo-Ibe (Dr) Toboro Andy Godwill, King Epete XI, JNP, Amananowei of Ekowe community.

Those conferred with the chieftaincy titles include Hon (Chief) Moses Marlon, the member representing Southen Ijaw Constituency 3 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly; Chief (Hon) Kia Ebidoughebofa Nigeria, chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, and Chief (Hon) Champion Daniel Igali, commissioner for Youth and Sports Development.

Hon (Chief) Marlon, who is the chairman of the House Committee on Culture and Tourism, was conferred with chieftaincy title of Koripadei-Tukpa, translated to mean, ‘He that has brought light to Ekowe Community.’

The ceremony was under the chairmanship of Rt Hon Obolo Edwin Bubou, former Speaker of Bayelsa State House of Assembly.

The occasion was also attended by very personalities, among whom were, Senator Moses Cleopas, who represents Bayelsa Central at the Senate, Hon Tarre Porri, chairman House Committee on Information at the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon Mitema Obodor of the state House of Assembly, Hon Doodei Week, immediate commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hon Adolphus Ofongo, Hon Flint George, top government functionaries, CDC, council of chiefs, women and men, opinion leaders and captain of industries among others.

Different groups and religious groups presented gifts to Chief Moses Marlon, among them were Our Moses Prayer group, Moses Queen of Ekowe women wing chapter, Ekowe Federated Student Union, Ekowe chapter.

Hon Moses Marlon, now Koripadei-Tukpa, while speaking to journalists expressed deep appreciation to HRH Dr Toboro Andy Godwill, King Epete XI JPN for deeming it fit to confer on him the chieftaincy title, which he said will spur him to do more for his constituency and mankind.

He also extended his gratitude to his pastor, Walter Okoni, and other men of God and prayed that God will continue to bless them immensely.

He also disclosed that he used the opportunity to donate gifts to eight elderly men and women of Ekowe Community. They include Door Zia, Emobeke Ikiri.BG Wille, Engla Shadrick Ogoun, Chief Okolobi Yemon, Paul Iniomo Anglakumo and Grace Iniyangha.
