As the Bayelsa State governorship elections scheduled for November 16, 2019 draws near, two governorship contenders, Amb. Godknows Igali and Dr Franklin Osaisai have opened and dedicated their separate campaign offices in choice areas of Yenagoa.

Both of them have purchased and submitted their forms.

According to Amb Godknows Igali, who hails from Enewari in Southern Ijaw local government area, his blueprint on governance will focus on employment generation for the youths, entrepreneurial and skill acquisition, construction of roads to link the hinterlands, due to their economic importance, regional integration for peaceful co- existence and economic partnership with neighbours in the South-South and the South-East, as well as power generation.

He promised to make impact on housing and environmental sustainability, agriculture, education and healthcare.

The former federal permanent secretary and onetime secretary to the Bayelsa State Government also promised to improve on road networks, marine transport, airport development, workers welfare and Ijaw affairs.

Meanwhile Doctor Franklin Osaisai, from Koluama coastal community of Southern ljaw Local Government Area, has decried “insecurity, leadership, high level of poverty, militancy, kidnapping and pipeline vandalism, lack of functional hospital, poor road networks in the 23-year old Bayelsa State. Hence, Bayelsa has groaned under the yoke of bad governance.”

Noting that while the righteous rules the people rejoice, he said the reverse has been the case for Bayelsa, adding that the mantle of leadership is divinely reserved for him this time around.

He said he’s going to take Bayelsa to the next level in youth empowerment, quality education and changing the mindset of the people.

He said he believes in non-violence, free and fair elections.

Also speaking Chief Ayakeme Wisky posited that God’s hand is in the project as many Bayelsans know that he does not follow people anyhow.

He noted that 90 percent of people who do not know Bayelsa want to be governor, while stressing that Dr. Osaisai is widely travelled and has a wide knowledge of geography of the Ijaw nation. “He is humble and is going to be a servant leader and he has submitted himself to serve,” he said.

Both of aspirants promised to leverage on the foundation laid by the Restoration Government of Sariake Dickson in the state.
