It was double celebration recently as Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Marhire Awhin of Evwreni town in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State celebrated their one year marriage anniversary with the dedication of their first child.

The event, which took place at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Edjekota-Ogor town, brought together family members, friends, colleagues and loved ones, who were on hand to thank God for the lives of the couple and the gift of a healthy baby.

Speaking during the church service, the preacher, Evang. Theophilus Utakpa admonished the church to be faithful to God in all circumstances.

Taking his message from the book of 1 Samuel 1: 1-20, the man of God told the church to always wait for God in everything, no matter how delayed it might be. He ended his sermon with prayers for victory and breakthroughs, even as the parishioners prepared to celebrate the Christmas and New Year in good health and peace.

The church service however ended with thanksgivings presented by the families of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Awhin for the marriage anniversary and the child dedication.

The vicar of the church, Rev. Canon J.S. Ogele, prayed for the new baby and also the parents for more blessings and wisdom to train their children in the way of the Lord after the church had presented gifts to the couple to help take care of the new baby in line with the church’s doctrine.

Addressing guests during a reception held at his residence after the church service, Mr.

Kenneth Awhin on behalf of his lovely wife said, “Truly, we are happy today beyond expectations. God is really gracious to us as a family.

“We contracted our marriage around this same time last year. Immediately after the marriage, as we came together as a family, my wife took in and became pregnant. She carried the pregnancy for nine months without health challenges and also delivered successfully and peacefully without health complications. For us, it’s double celebrations. My heart is full of joy and happiness today for these great things the Lord has been doing in our lives. We also thank our family members, friends, colleagues and church members that are here to celebrate the moment with us.”

The reception ended with presentation of gifts to the couple by the invitees.
