The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt has commissioned its training school, Officers, Masters and Warrant Officers’ residents and other faculties constructed and rehabilitated by the division at its headquarters in Port Harcourt.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, who was represented by the General Officer Commanding 82 Division Enugu, Maj Gen Adamu Abubakar, commended the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division Nigerian Army, Maj Gen Musa Yusuf for the various innovations going on in the division.
Buratai further commended the GOC 6 Division for realizing the commissioned projects irrespective of revenue constraints, noting that the provision of the training school was in agreement with his vision of ensuring that there are formidable and well-trained officers to stand the security challenges of the region. He added that the quality of training at the school will help the Nigerian Army in the effective discharge of their duties.
Lt. Gen. Buratai stated: “The GOC informed me of his plan to build this training school but I didn’t know it will be this fast, despite the constraints. I commend him for the realization of the projects.
“You are aware of the security challenges on the Army and others in the region, but with the quality training here, it will help the Nigerian Army in the discharge of their duties efficiently. These projects are a reflection of the Nigerian Army to the welfare, needs of the troops. The effort is unique and meaningful.”
He advised beneficiaries of the projects to utilize the training opportunity to develop themselves in the discharge of duties and also adopt a good maintenance culture to ensure that the projects served the division for a reasonable length of time.
Earlier, the GOC 6 Division, Maj Gen Musa Yusuf, credited his achievements to the Chief of Army Staff, noting his excellent leadership and manpower empowerment.
Yusuf, further noted the support of the COAS, Rivers State Government and Rivers people for success recorded so far in the Division, stressing that he will remain apolitical in the discharge of duty.
Other facilities commissioned include, renovation of three 3 bedroom bungalow for senior officers, newly built eight set of 2 bedroom flats for Master Warrant and Warrant officers of the Division.
Others are the Commissioning of the accident and emergency unit of the Division’s medical services and hospital and a new cemetery.
