Amnesty: Ex-Militant Leaders Urge Tinubu to Reappoint Ndiomu as Coordinator

By Amos Odhe, Yenagoa

The national treasurer of the Presidential Amnesty Program, third phase, general Victor Occasion, and the adviser to the national chairman of the third phase, general Princewill Kotingo, have called on President Ahmed Tinubu to reappoint Major General Tariye Barry Ndiomu as the substantive coordinator of the Amnesty Program, in order for him to rebrand it.

In an interaction with journalists in Yenagoa, ex-militant leaders said Gen. Ndiomu (rtd) has succeeded in sanitizing the pay roll system of the Amnesty programme, alleging that “before now there were so many fraudulent activities in the system, ranging from multiple BVN to changing of names and also outright manipulation of the account system.”

They further stated that with the introduction of the Presidential Amnesty cooperative and the loan scheme a lot of delegates have become self-employed, instead of relying on the monthly stipends of N65,000 under the current high inflation in the country. The program has produced aircraft maintenance to the whole world and a lot more will become employers of labour in the nearest future, they said.

Victor Occasion and Princewill Kotingo said that this goes to show the level of passion and holistic concern that Gen. Ndiomu has for the people and beneficiaries of the presidential amnesty programme.

They further said that Gen Ndiomu has done what other previous coordinators of the Amnesty Program “have not done, despite the fact there were huge amount of financial burden in the office, but he was able to sanitize it by paying all the debts incurred by past governments, such as debts owned contractors, students’ tuition fees and now he has recently lifted the ban on the scholarships as in no distant time, deployment will commence.

“These are laudable and commendable giant strides that Major General Tariye Barry Ndiomu (rtd) has brought and when reappointed as substantive coordinator will no doubt change the narratives of the presidential Amnesty Program,” they said.

They further “appreciated and applauded Gen Ndiomu who has brought the program to limelight, hence collectively the leaders of first, second and third phase have unanimously called president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a matter of urgency to confirm Manor – General Tariye Barry Ndiomu (rtd) as the substantive Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Program for sustainability and continuity of the program that  has brought peace to the Niger Delta region.”
