Amnesty Beneficiary Launches Foundation for Prison Inmates, Others

A beneficiary of the Federal Government’s Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) for repentant militants in the Niger Delta region, Hon Justice Chisom Nwogu, aka Gen King Jay has launched a foundation to take care of, not only orphans, less privileged and the needy in society but also prison inmates and flood victims.

Inaugurating the headquarters of the King Jay Foundation in Omudu, Umuajuloke in Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State, chairman and chief executive officer of the foundation, Gen King Jay, who is a Peace Ambassador, said his foundation is one of a kind in the state, meant to cater for the interest and welfare of inmates and flood victims.

“King Jay Foundation is a legally recognized corporate entity, duly and statutorily recognized and registered under Part C of the Corporate and Allied Matters Act of Nigeria.

“King Jay Foundation is a non-political and non-governmental organization geared towards lending helping hands to the less privileged and the needy; such as the orphans, the poor, the elderly, drug addicts, the perceived innocent ones in correctional centres, those ravaged by floods, just to mention but few,” he said,

He added that: “Today, as we kick-start by inaugurating our head office to the glory of God, here in Omudu, Umuajuloke in Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State, we hereby call on all and sundry for your support, advice and intelligence in achieving this great task, as we cannot do this all alone without your support.”

In an interview after the event, chairman and chief executive officer of the foundation, Ambassador King Jay, who is also the Rivers State chairman of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators Leadership Forum called on prison inmates in the state, particularly those wrongfully convicted and those who cannot afford their bail bond fees, as well as flood victims, to take advantage of the services provided by the foundation to better their lives.

Hon (Barr) Chidi Nweke, immediate past legal adviser to Omuma Local Government Area of the state, who cut the tape to commission the foundation commended the chairman of the foundation for the effort and called on well-meaning individuals and corporate bodies in the state to support the initiative to ameliorate poverty and sufferings in society.

Beneficiaries of the foundation commended the founder for bringing succour to their lives. Mr Okere Emenike told our correspondent that, “I’m one of the beneficiaries of the foundation. Gen King Jay is my leader. He has made me a king today. I’m a landlord through King Jay.”
