Akpojaro Organizes 10km Race for Students, Adults in Ughelli, Feb 13

The city of Ughelli, the headquarters of Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State will Sunday February 13, 2022 witness the third edition of the 10km road race tagged, ‘Ughelli Secondary Schools 10km Road Race,’ as well as the first edition of 10km adult road race tagged, ‘Ughelli Open Adult 10km Road Race.’ 

According to a statement issued by the co-ordinator and organizer of the annual sports events, Mr. Princeton Akpojaro, a United Kingdom based sports manager from Ughelli town, the third edition of Ughelli Secondary Schools 10km Road Race is for both private and public secondary school students across the local government council, while the first edition of Ughelli Open Adult 10km Road Race is opened for active adults, both males and females across the local government council too.

The Urhobo-born sports manager and athlete however called on principals and sports teachers to give the information the widest publicity in their various schools by selecting the best students in their schools for everyday training in order to win the available prizes as usual.

He also called on adults, both in the private and public sectors to key into this vision of sports development in Urhobo land in particular and Delta State in general by making themselves available for the adult road race. He also revealed that, there would be lots of prizes to be won by participants in both races at the end of the two events.

Mr. Akpojaro has been organizing these sports events for the past three years in Ughelli town as his personal contribution to sports development amongst children in Delta State and Nigeria at large.

He called on other well meaning Urhobo sons and daughters, both in politics and business, to support the yearly sports programmes to make them more meaningful, impactful and results oriented amongst children and adults in the state and the country at large.
