Ajaelu Decries Govt’s ‘Non-Recognition’ of Rivers Angels’ Supporters Club

Members of Rivers Angels Supporters Football Club has expressed their profound gratitude to the Rivers Sole Administrator Vice Admin. (Rtd.) lbot- Ete Ibas for appreciating the State athletes with cash rewards, most especially, Rivers Angels football club that did the state proud in winning the Nigeria Women Federation/President Cup finals played in Abuja against the Nasarawa Amazons.

Making this known in a Telephone interview in Port Harcourt recently, the Chairman of the Rivers Angles Supporters Club, Hon. Innocent Ajaelu remarked that it was a thing of joy seeing the SOLAD coming out to do the needful expected of a good State Government to honour her Ambassadors with cash reward in appreciation of their giant strides, giving the state quality representation by winning the coveted Women Federation/President Cup Finals.

“For me, this is one of the remarkable achievement the State has recorded this year in sports under the leadership of the SOLAD, believing that the jewels of Rivers as the girls are fondly called by their admirers, will not rest on their oars but intensify effort to defend the trophy well next year,” he said.

The supporters Club Chairman, however, expressed great dismay over non- recognition of the supporters club members, who had been travelling with the team both at home and away matches, cheering the girls to Victory.

He said: “Honestly, we were shocked and unhappy that Rivers Angels Supporters Club was not giving anything during the reception of the athletes as a show of appreciation for all our contribution in helping the team as the twelve player in a match”.

“More worrisome is that the supporter’s club for now needs a movable bus that can assist the members travel along the players when they are going for away league games”

He argued strongly that the presence of the supporters club at the match venue is very important, saying that its serves as a catalyst to boast the moral of the Girls to go for the ‘kill’.

The football administrator also seized the opportunity to commend President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for showering millions of naira on the Super Falcons team for winning the women Africa Nation Cup (WAFCON) in a dramatic fashion, coming from behind to beat the host Country 3-2 in front of their vociferous home fans.

“Truly, the cash reward and National Honour of OON given to the victorious Super Falcon girls was well deserved, when one look at their dogged fighting spirit they exhibited on that penultimate day, coming from behind to win the Moroccan girls who were also a good side to be reckoned with”, he Summed up.
