AG, NBA Laud Justice Inyang’s Contributions to Bayelsa’s Judicial System

Bayelsa State’s attorney-general and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Dambo Biriyai, SAN, and members of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Yenagoa branch, have lauded the contributions of Justice J.E. Inyang, of the Federal High Court, Yenagoa Judicial Division to the administration of justice in the state.

Biriyai, who described Justice Inyang as an “elegant and upright judge who was always ready to dispense justice without fear or favour,” said the judge who is proceeding on transfer will always be remembered for impacting on the people of the state.

The attorney-general, stated this during a send forth valedictory ceremony in honour of Justice Inyang, the administrative judge of the Federal High Court, Yenagoa, held at the court premises in Yenagoa, the state capital at the weekend.

He said: “Personally, I appeared before you here even in 2018 or so even before I became the attorney general. My Lord when I came in here, I saw an elegant judge, well spoken, very articulate, a judge that was ready to dispense justice without fear, that was the impression I had and that was the impression I left with, least did I know that I will come in here to be attorney-general.

“My Lord is very upright, he doesn’t delve into the things that happen around the state, he is glued to his work and ready to dispense justice the way it should be to carry out his constitutional duties.

“My Lord you have been in Bayelsa for about three years, you have impacted on the people of Bayelsa State. Some might not tell you, some might say he is a very strict judge and when they say somebody is strict that is when you know that the person is good but when they say you are too liberal that means you are compromising.”

In his remarks, Mr. Somina Johnbull, of the NBA Yenagoa branch, commended Justice Inyang for his contributions to the justice system in the state and for bringing majesty into the court room and described his judgements as a force of unassailable logic. He said irrespective of what happened or what will happen, the people who are appreciative of his contributions were much more than those who grumble about it.

On her part, the registrar of FHC, Mrs. Bwala, described Justice Inyang as a guidance and source of inspiration to the staff, adding that he will be remembered for his work ethics and one with a supportive and compassionate heart and wished him well in his new assignment.

Responding, Justice Inyang said fond memories of Yenagoa Judicial Division will always be in his heart and thank God for giving him the spirit and courage to discharge his duties.

He said: “Yenagoa Division will always be in my heart, it did not matter to me that I came under severe attacks, it did not matter to me that my life was threatened, what mattered to me was that justice must be done.

“I thank God for giving me the spirit and courage, I say that when one has a pure heart you can dare the lion, you can look the lion in the face and do what you have to do. I have fond memories of Bayelsa, I will never turned my heart on Bayelsa State.”
