ADP Worried over Insecurity, Flooding in Rivers

Candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the 2019 gubernatorial election in Rivers State, Mr. Victor Fingesi has expressed concern over the deteriorating state of security, as well as flood ravaging the state.

Speaking during the party’s 2nd anniversary celebration in Port Harcourt, Fingesi said after the elections that hoodlums were having a field day in different parts of the state, while a lot of people had been kidnapped, murdered and ransom obtained from the already impoverished people.

He said containing insecurity should not be left in the hands of local governments alone, adding that even the threat of removing traditional rulers cannot address the situation.

Fingesi advised the Rivers State government to convoke a non-partisan security summit of Rivers people and stakeholders to come up with the necessary panacea to contain the situation.

He further advised the state governor not to play politics with security as it pays nobody any good.

On the flood ravaging the state, the ADP leader in the state, advised the state government to be decisive and make way for drainage routes.

He said buildings blocking drainage routes should be made to go down to save the state from embarrassment, adding that no part of the state capital is free from flood, including the Government Reserved Area (GRA).

He noted that though he had a clear vision on how to arrest the flooding, adding that in the interest of the state and its people, he wouldn’t mind offering the idea to the state government to address the ugly situation.

He stated that flood has caused a lot of damage to property and even lives in the state and wondered why a rich state like Rivers could turn its back on the situation.

Fingesi said what was lacking was the political will to deal with the challenges and called on the state government to do the needful.

Speaking on his party’s anniversary, he commended party faithful and its supporters in the state for doing well within the short time from its inception and advised them to re-double their efforts as the party had prospects to grow and lead the state.
