By Young E. Freeborn, Warri

As part of his usual philanthropic gesture to his people, Chief Engr. Dr. Samuel Adjogbe, former executive director on Projects (EDP) at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), recently put smiles on the faces of Unenurhie people as he presented bags of rice and cash gift to them for the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Making the presentation at the community event centre, Hon. Fidelis Adjogbe, who represented his brother, expressed love to the Unenurhie people for their support and prayers for his brother and his family.

“I was sent here by my elder brother to present to you these bags of rice and financial token to help celebrate the Christmas and New Year seasons with joy and happiness.

“Take note, these are not (political) party gifts. They are his personal presentations to everybody in the community. They shouldn’t be shared along party lines. They should be shared to everybody, even though they are small. My brother is really happy with all of you for your prayers and support to him at every point in time. Don’t ever be tired, continue to pray for him. We shall enjoy the fruits and benefits of the struggle together at the end.”

Receiving the items on behalf of Unenurhie, the president-general of the community, Mr. Peter Maison in company of other community leaders present at the meeting expressed joy over the gifts.

“Words are not enough to express our joy and happiness to Chief Engr. Dr. Samuel Adjogbe for his usual philanthropic and generous gesture to us, as individuals and as a community. This has been his usual ways of life since we know him. As our elders, women, youths and children always pray for him, he will continue to excel in every aspect of his life with uncountable results.

“In fact, Chief Adjogbe is a son of Unenurhie community. We are solidly behind him, the same way he’s solidly behind us as a community. He is a bridge builder and a freedom fighter amongst his people. He’s someone who detests injustice and oppression. May God continue to protect and promote him in life,” he said.

Meanwhile, almost immediately after the presentation of the items, Chief Engr. Dr. Samuel Adjogbe drove in into the community with the passion to do more for his people. The event turned into a huge celebration, jam-packed with members of the community, as the former NDDC director gave out more gifts to the men, women and little children present.
