Former executive director, Projects (EDP) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Olorogun Dr. Samuel Adjogbe recently led other personalities and political leaders across Delta State to join the Otota’Rode of Evwreni Kingdom, High Chief (Hon.) Felix Ayovwe, at the funeral of his late mother, Mama Blacky Ikrechero Ayovwe.
Mama Blacky Ikrechero Ayovwe, nee Ubiri, was aged 102
The event which was held on Saturday 17 February, 2024 at Evwreni town in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State was also attended by community leaders and politicians including members of the Samuel Adjogbe Foundation and PDP members in the state.
Speaking with newsmen, the ‘Oyivwi of the Universe’, as Olorogun Dr. Adjogbe is popularly called, who is also president of the Rotary Club of Evwreni, said, “All of us are here today to join our father, the Otota’Rode of Evwreni kingdom and his family to give our late old mother a befitting burial.
“Mama was really well of age and lived a life worthy of celebration and emulation. And now to our father, the Otota’Rode of Evwreni kingdom, High Chief Felix Ayovwe who is Mama’s eldest son, is a high ranking traditional leader in Evwreni kingdom. He’s a man I always respect and also doff the cap for because of his magnanimity and pragmatic nature. It’s the same to his wife, Chief Mrs. Meg Ayovwe. She’s a woman of honour and respect. To all the guests that are here, I want to appreciate you all for this uncommon love we have displayed to the Otota’Rode today. Let’s continue to support each other,” he said.
Also speaking during the funeral were the presidents-general of Evwreni kingdom, Olorogun Kenneth Ukpebitere, and that of Unenurhie community, Mr. Peter Maison, JP. They commended their leader, Olorogun Dr. Samuel Adjogbe for his acts of generosity and kindness towards every person close to him.
In the same way, the duo on behalf of the entire Evwreni kingdom expressed their deepest condolences to the Otota’Rode of Evwreni kingdom and his wife, High Chief and Chief Mrs. Felix Ayovwe over the demise of their mother.
Among the community leaders and politicians that graced the funeral occasion were Mr. Emmanuel U. K. Tobi Edirin, the president-general of Otor-Ogor community, Sir S. B. Ayube, Hon. Bar. Jaro Egbo, Engr. Ofejiro, Major John Ufeti, Rtd, Chief Frank Imudje, the Otota’Rode of Unenurhie community, Dr. Johnson Abrucha, the Akpohor of Unenurhie community, Mr. Moneyard Edjere, the Olotu’Rode of Unenurhie community and host of others too numerous to mention.
