By Young E. Freeborn, Warri

The Engr. Dr. Samuel Adjogbe Foundation (EDSAF) has donated notebooks and other educational materials to schools across Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

This measure by the foundation was done in partnership with the Rotary Club of Ughelli Metropolis, with many students and pupils benefiting from it.

Mr. Fidelix Adjogbe, a principal officer of the foundation who stood in for the founder of the foundation, Engr. Dr. Samuel Adjogbe, during the distribution exercise of the notebooks at Unenurhie Primary School, Unenurhie, said, “This is a yearly educational service to schools across Delta State by the Engr. Dr. Samuel Adjogbe Foundation. Our services are not limited to only Ughelli North LGA or Evwreni kingdom. This kind gesture is always extended to the four corners of the state and the country at large.

“We know that the government alone can’t fund education to achieve the best from it. This is why NGOs and foundations like this always take it upon themselves to support the government to render services of this kind to schools.

“As children, we want to appeal to you to make good use of these notebooks and other educational materials that are presented to you today. Take care of them and also take your education seriously because education is the light that can take you out of darkness. As a foundation, we are happy to present this little support to you today,” he said.

Also, a member of the foundation, Mr. Marcus Uba, told the school children to always focus on their studies, both in the school and at home. He equally told the teachers to give the children homework every time in order to keep them busy at home.

“Teachers should complement the efforts of this foundation by engaging the children in different academic activities here in the school and to also give them homework at the end of every school day. This will definitely keep the children busy and to focus on their studies. I also want to appeal to parents and guardians to see education as a fundamental right of every child. This should therefore spur you to invest more in the education of your children especially in this modern age,” he said.

Mr. Uba however ended his remarks with the words of the founder, Engr. Dr. Samuel Adjogbe: “Education is a passport to a better future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”

At the end, different sizes of notebooks were given to all the school children.
