A stalwart of the African Democratic Congress(ADC) in Rivers State, Hon Obijuru Saturday Uwa, has affirmed that the party is fully prepared to contest and win the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking with newsmen recently in Okpontu-Ndoki Community, in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state on the party’s readiness for the polls in 2027, among other state and national issues, Uwa asserted that, “Our commitment to national transformation is basically rooted in strengthened structures, expanding grassroots networks, and the rising demand for competent leadership across Nigeria.
He expressed confidence that Nigerians will reject the current governance trends under the watch of President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress(APC), adding that Mr President’s expected re-election bid faces substantial challenges due to prevailing national conditions.
Uwa, who is the secretary of the party in Oyigbo Local Government Ward 5, applauded the exemplary leadership courage doggedness dexterity open-mindedness unassuming propensity and development-driven interest of former Rivers State governor and Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, whose developmental focus and administrative tenacity, he said, represent values worthy of national adoption.
The party bigwig in the area maintained that ADC will continue to engage citizens across all regions, to build a movement- driven by hope, integrity, and actionable solutions.
According to him, the ADC’s bold forecast of winning the presidency in 2027 may be aspirational, but, it taps into growing frustration among Nigerians. He added that citizens currently feel the weight of economic pressures and governance lapses, and many are actively seeking alternatives.
”By highlighting Amaechi’s leadership qualities, the ADC is attempting to anchor itself to a model that portrays firmness, discipline, and project-driven governance. This strategy, linking the party to admired leadership traits, could help reshape public perception,” he declared.
He however, stressed that the ADC’s visibility will depend on more than statements, noting that structures, alliances, youth mobilization, and credible leadership will define its real political potential.
He added that the party has already succeeded in one thing: sparking conversation and positioning itself as a contender rather than a spectator in 2027.
”ADC’s rhetoric increases its visibility ahead of 2027. Public dissatisfaction of the present dispensation in the country under the administration of President Bola Tinubu gives third-force movements unusual momentum.
”Tinubu’s electoral prospects depend heavily on economic performance.
”Amaechi’s legacy symbolically represents disciplined leadership. 2027 will certainly produce the most competitive election in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic,” Hon Obijuru Uwa boasts.
On strategic remedies for the party, Uwa said that, it will strengthen polling unit structures nationwide, build coalitions with credible smaller political parties, promote a unifying, relatable presidential candidate, develop cost- of – living solutions voters can trust, engage youth aggressively across social platforms, present a governance blueprint anchored in transparency, and prevent internal crises and factional battles for the political freedom of Nigerians from bad governance as currently experienced.
