Exactly a year ago since the attack on three journalists, Martins Giadom of Radio Rivers FM, Sotonye Jamaica of Garden City Radio and Barididum Lema of Rhythm FM Port Harcourt, by suspected political thugs during the re-run elections in Rivers State, a human rights advocate in the state, Barrister Higher-king has decried the failure of relevant authorities to address cases of violence and injustice melted on journalists covering elections in the state.
Speaking on the attack on the three journalists during the March 19, 2016 national and state assembly rerun election, by suspected thugs at Bunu community in Tai Local Government Area, Barrister Higher-king called for justice on the matter.
He also called for the implementation of the report by the Justice Danagogo-led commission of Inquiry, so as to enable them recover their losses.
Similarly, some Port Harcourt based journalists have also lamented the rising cases of attacks on journalists performing their legitimate duties in the state.
The journalists, Wariso Wariso and Alwell Ene, called on the relevant authorities to ensure that the trend is brought to an end.
