Access To Sexual Reproductive Health and Right Vital in Ogoni ~ Dukor

President of Pius Dukor Foundation for Community Development and Advancement, a non-governmental organization, Comrade Pius Dukor has said that access to sexual reproductive health and right is an import issue for every individual in Ogoni land.

Comrade Dukor made the remark during a one day town hall meeting on access to sexual reproductive health and right in Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area, organized by the Pius Dukor Foundation for Community Development and Advancement.

He explained that the purpose of the project was to enlighten the people of Ogoni on their reproductive health and right so that they can overcome the challenges associated with lack of information, stressing that the information shared during the programe will give the people the opportunity to know their right where their health is concerned.

Resource person at the event, Dr. Francis Nabie, addressed the participants on a number of issues relating to sexual reproductive health and right and assured them that the town hall meeting will be beneficial to all participants.

Dr. Nabie who spoke on wide range of issues such as family planning, antenatal care for pregnant women, the dangers of abortion and rape, high rate of consumption of alcohol and tramadol and the use of condom during sex by young people to avoid sexually transmitted infection, diseases and HIV/AIDS, however raised hope for the people whose sexual right had been abused through rape.

He also advised those who had miscarriage, erectile dysfunction to seek medical attention while advising community leaders and chiefs to set up mechanism to prevent sexual abuse.

One of the participants, Precious Vidune, during the question and answer section expressed gratitude to the organisers for the program, adding that it should be extended to other parts of Ogoni.

The project officer, Mr. Chamberlin Amadi tasked those whose sexual right had been violated to report to the foundation or appropriate quarters.

Earlier, president of the foundation, Pius Dukor had expressed gratitude to Trust Africa for their magnanimity in choosing Ogoni land for the health program, especially as the project funding was made possible by the group.

It would be recall that the foundation organized town hall meetings in communities such as Kono-Boue, Beeri, Kaani and Bori Urban all in Khana L.G.A. on access to sexual reproductive health and right.
