A fifteen year old girl (name withheld) who was abducted over two weeks ago by unknown abductors in Ehere community, Uwheru kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State was recently released amidst joy and jubilation by her parents and neighbours.

Speaking to our correspondent during a visit to the parents at their country home in Ehere community, Uwheru kingdom, father of the victim (name also withheld), said he was happy over his daughter’s release.

“For over two weeks now, we have been looking for my daughter to no avail. We organized a search party to search everywhere in the entire community and also in nearby thick forests to no avail.

“Suddenly, just two days ago, we were surprised to see her back in this place looking haggard and weak. Actually, we are very glad and grateful to God for this great miracle. After a while, we tried to interrogate her for her whereabouts over the past two weeks, she now narrated her ordeals to us that some boys abducted her for no reason and took her to an undisclosed place. They beat her and also messed her up too. They humiliated her sexually. But she said, after so much torture and starvation, they just decided to release her on their own to go home.”

He however said he has already reported the issue to the ‘A’ Division of the Ughelli Police Station and the police have already started investigation on the issue of abduction and kidnapping in the said area.

Efforts to speak to the Delta State police public relations officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, on the matter proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
