We, the people of Nigeria, stand at a critical crossroads in our history—a moment where the ghosts of betrayal still haunt our democracy, and the cries of the people echo through the land, calling for justice, unity, and a true rebirth of our nation.
We remember MKO Abiola, not just as a man, but as a movement. His 1993 presidential victory remains a beacon of hope, a powerful declaration of the people’s will across ethnic and religious divides. That election was not just a political event—it was a democratic covenant, brutally broken by the forces of tyranny.
Yet, Abiola stood firm. He chose imprisonment over compromise, sacrifice over silence. Even in death, he rose as a symbol—of courage, of resilience, and of the Nigeria we all dream of. His legacy lives on in June 12, now rightfully recognized as Democracy Day, and in the hearts of millions who still believe in the promise of this great nation.
But we must ask ourselves:
How long will the pain of betrayal continue to run through the veins of our leadership?
How long will senseless violence and division tear us apart?
When will the sons and daughters of this land rise together, not in bloodshed, but in nation-building?
We declare that Nigeria can rise again. We have the land, the people, the knowledge, the faith, and the resources. We have all it takes to feed not just ourselves, but Africa and the world. Yet today, insecurity, greed, and misrule silence the drums of progress.
We condemn:
The looting of our commonwealth by leaders who trade the future of millions for their fleeting comfort.
The senseless killings and ethnic strife fueled by political greed and ignorance.
The abandonment of our farmers, our teachers, our youth, and our patriots who yearn for a nation that works.
We envision a New Nigeria:
Where justice reigns and no voice is silenced.
Where leadership is a call to serve, not an opportunity to steal.
Where religion and ethnicity unite us in diversity, not divide us with hatred.
Where every child can dream freely, and every youth can thrive on merit.
Where democracy is not just a word, but a lived reality—transparent, accountable, and people-centered.
Nigerians, the time is now.
We must rise above ethnicity, religiosity, and political affiliation.
We must defend our democracy with unity and purpose.
We must demand accountability, protect our farmers, empower our youth, and reclaim our streets, our institutions, and our future.
Let MKO Abiola’s courage be our compass.
Let June 12 be more than a memory—let it be a movement.
Let Nigeria be the nation it was destined to be.
This is our fight. This is our future. This is our nation integrity.
