The joy of His Royal Highness Eze Anthony Worlu Akarolo, a justice of peace and paramount ruler of Elekahia Community in Port Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers State knew no bounds as he was bestowed with Peace and Development Award by the Niger Delta Media Forum.
The award was for his outstanding leadership and commitments to the development and maintenance of peace and stability in his community and the society at large.
According to the organizers, the royal father who is also the Amangada xi of rebisi kingdom was honored in recognition of “his outstanding and pragmatic leadership in the discharge of his responsibilities as the paramount ruler, which has seen peace and development pervade the entire length and breath of the community there by attaining the enviable status as one of the most peaceful communities in the state.
“A survey conducted has shown that Elekahia Community has witnessed tremendous influx of strangers and has become destination of choice for Port Harcourt residents who crave for peace and stability in their neighborhood.”
Responding, Eze Akarolo expressed appreciation to the Niger Delta Media Forum for the honor done him and commended the group for carrying out a survey of his leadership and achievements, which necessitated the award presentation, assuring that he will continue to do his best to ensure that the community remains in peace where people will sleep with their two eyes closed.
He attributed the peace in the community to his fear of God in the discharge of his responsibilities, adding that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. He prayed that peace and development will continue in the community under his leadership.
While thanking the former governor of the state, chief Barr Nyesom Wike for the various developmental projects his administration brought to his community, especially the internal roads project which he said has given the community a face lift, and expressed the hope that the administration of Sir Siminalayi Fubara will continue and consolidate on the developmental strides of the Wike administration in the state.
The royal father used the opportunity to call on the indigens and other residents to continue to maintain decorum in their dealing with one another and channel all matters to the palace for resolution instead of resorting to self help and needless court cases.
The award ceremony took place at the palace of the monarch and was graced by members of the council of chiefs and other members of the royal family amidst pump and pageantry.
